The impact of someone's drug or alcohol problem on their family and friends is often overlooked. It is estimated that almost one in five of us are likely to have a family member affected in this way. In fact, over 26 per cent of our clients are also parents, a figure which increases to over fifty per cent in some areas.

Coping with a loved one's problem drug or alcohol use can take a toll on their family's health, wellbeing, their finances, social lives and relationships with others.

North Ayrshire Alcohol and Drug Partnership offers a range of support developed for families and carers affected by substance misuse. If families get help in their own right, it is more likely that their loved one will be successful in tackling their own addiction.
