North Ayrshire Adult Support & Protection Committee

If you are worried that you or someone you know is being harmed, or is suffering from neglect it is important to tell someone.  The person who is being harmed or neglected may not be able to report it themselves.

Everyone has the right to be safe and free from harm

The Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 aims to provide support and protection for adults who are at risk of harm and who are unable to keep themselves safe - often because they are more vulnerable to harm due to a physical or mental disability or infirmity.  The Act places responsibilities on Councils and other agencies to act to support and protect adults from harm.

Harm can include physical and psychological harm, as well as financial abuse, neglect (including self-neglect) and sexual harm.

Anyone in North Ayrshire who is worried about themselves or another adult can contact North Ayrshire Council and share their concern.  Any issues raised will be taken seriously and enquiries will be made by specially trained social services staff to identify what action can be taken to support and protect the adult.  At all times, the wishes of the adult themselves are taken into account about the best way forward for them.

If the adult is in immediate danger, please dial 999.  Otherwise contact your local Social Services on:
